I work in Atlanta, GA as a content coordinator at CARE USA, an international nonprofit focused on fighting global poverty by empowering women and girls. As a content coordinator for the Strategic Partnerships and Alliances Team at CARE USA, I work with the communications staff of CARE’s various corporate partners to design and develop content for use in corporate communications channels in order to raise awareness of CARE’s partnerships and programming. I also work closely with in-country staff posted in CARE field offices to cultivate a variety of creative content, such as stories, photos and videos, for use across CARE and partner organization platforms.
Before joining the CARE team, I worked as a public relations professional in the Atlanta area, and I'm currently working as an Account Coordinator at William Mills Agency, where I managed multiple accounts and create media strategy for a variety of clients. I was responsible for drafting press releases, media advisories, case studies and bylines for agency clients. I also pitched local, trade and general media outlets for client coverage.
I'm a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Journalism (Specialization: Public Relations) and Global Studies. I love helping people tell their stories, and I'm excited and prepared for the opportunities to come thanks to an outstanding education at UNC and an range of diverse internship experiences, from major corporations to small non-profits to agencies.
Before graduation, I worked as a communications intern at The V Foundation for Cancer Research, helping with graphic design and social media projects. I also worked as a public relations intern at Cartoon Network in Atlanta within Turner Broadcasting after my junior year, and during that year I worked as a social media intern at 3 Birds Marketing, where I edited and managed a large social media library for several clients. I previously served as a communications intern at Agile Leverage, a small start-up where I created blog and social media content for several client websites. I also worked as a public relations intern for the American Red Cross Triangle Region Chapter, writing volunteer profiles and creating a social media campaign for America’s Preparathon!.
In addition to these internship experiences, I was active in several student organizations. I served for a year as a Director of Relay For Life of UNC, one of UNC's largest student-run organizations. Previously, I served as Public Relations Chair for the organization, which is best known for a yearlong fundraising effort that benefits the American Cancer Society. Through my membership in Pi Beta Phi Sorority, I also have leadership and philanthropic experience, including assisting in planning and executing the Eve Carson Memorial 5K, the largest 5K in Chapel Hill for the past four years. I look forward to putting my social media, public relations, and leadership experience to work on new opportunities in the future.
